This creamy buffalo chicken dip with a cool ranch drizzle is the ultimate game day appetizer. It’s quick, easy, and packed with spicy, tangy, cheesy goodness that will have everyone coming back for more.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup buffalo hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing, plus more for drizzling
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional garnishes: chopped green onions, fresh parsley, or crumbled blue cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Beat with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  3. Add the shredded chicken and buffalo hot sauce to the bowl. Stir until evenly coated.
  4. Fold in 3/4 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese and all of the Monterey Jack. Reserve the remaining 1/4 cup cheddar for the top.
  5. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir to combine.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9-inch pie plate or small baking dish. Spread into an even layer.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until hot and bubbly around the edges and the cheese is melted and lightly golden.
  9. Remove from the oven and let rest for 2-3 minutes.
  10. Drizzle ranch dressing over the top in a zigzag pattern. Swirl gently with a knife if desired. Sprinkle with optional garnishes.
  11. Serve warm with tortilla chips, celery sticks, carrot sticks, or crusty bread.

Notes

Softening cream cheese is non-negotiable for a smooth dip. Shred your own cheese for best melting. Let the dip rest before serving to make it scoopable. Double the recipe for a crowd and bake in a 9×13 dish, adding 5-10 minutes to the baking time.
