Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz thinly sliced turkey breast (deli counter, store brand)
  • 4 oz salami or pepperoni (store-brand hard salami)
  • 4 oz ham or prosciutto (optional)
  • 6 oz sharp cheddar cheese (block style, sliced into thin pieces or cubes)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 4 oz brie or camembert (optional, store-brand)
  • ½ cup cranberry sauce (canned or homemade, jellied preferred)
  • ¼ cup whole grain mustard
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 box buttery crackers (like Ritz or store-brand)
  • 1 bag pita chips or crostini (store-brand pita chips)
  • ½ cup mixed nuts (almonds, pecans, or cashews, salted)
  • ¼ cup pretzel sticks
  • 1 cup red grapes (washed, in small clusters)
  • 1 apple or pear (sliced thin, tossed with lemon juice)
  • ¼ cup dried cranberries or raisins
  • A handful of fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs (for garnish)
  • Pickles or cornichons (optional)
  • Olives (green or black, pitted, optional)
  • Dark chocolate squares (optional, store-brand)

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Take cream cheese out to soften. Slice cheddar into thin triangles or cubes. If using brie, leave whole or cut into wedges. Wash grapes and pat dry. Slice apple or pear into thin wedges and toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Choose your board and arrange the bowls: Place small bowls or ramekins on the board (corners or along one edge). Fill one with cranberry sauce, one with whole grain mustard, one with honey, and one with olives or pickles if using.
  3. Layer the meats: Fold turkey slices in half or roll into loose cylinders; arrange in a fan pattern or small pile. Do the same with salami and ham, placing in separate clusters.
  4. Add the cheeses: Place cheddar slices in a neat row or stacked pile. Put brie wedge next to it, and place softened cream cheese in a small dollop or its own ramekin.
  5. Fill in with crackers and breads: Arrange buttery crackers in a single layer or slight overlap along one side. Place pita chips or crostini in another section.
  6. Add the fresh elements: Tuck grape clusters into gaps between meats and cheeses. Scatter apple slices and dried cranberries around the board. Add mixed nuts and pretzel sticks in small piles.
  7. Garnish and finish: Tuck small sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme around the board. Drizzle a little honey over brie or cream cheese if using. Fill any empty spots with extra crackers or nuts.
  8. Serve immediately or refrigerate: Best served at room temperature. If making ahead, cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours. Take out 20 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, serve cheese and meats at room temperature. Take everything out of the fridge 20-30 minutes before assembling. Don’t overcrowd the board; leave breathing room. If you don’t have a wooden board, use a large ceramic platter or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Prep ingredients a day in advance for quicker assembly.
