A creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip with a dramatic sour cream spider web design that comes together in under 30 minutes. Perfect for parties, game day, or any gathering where you want to impress guests with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese (optional, for garnish)
  • Fresh chives or green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Tortilla chips, celery sticks, or baguette slices for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Position the rack in the middle. Shred your chicken if you haven’t already.
  2. Soften the cream cheese by cutting it into cubes and letting it sit for 5 minutes, or add cold cubes directly to a hot pan.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded chicken, buffalo wing sauce, ranch dressing, 1 cup of the shredded cheddar, and all of the mozzarella. Stir until evenly distributed.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9-inch pie dish or small baking dish. Spread evenly and smooth the top with a spatula.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese over the top.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until hot and bubbly with the cheese fully melted and edges just starting to brown.
  7. Let the dip rest for 2-3 minutes to set slightly.
  8. Fill a small squeeze bottle or zip-top bag with sour cream. Pipe a small circle in the center, then concentric circles around it, spacing them about an inch apart. Using a toothpick or knife tip, drag from the center outward through all circles to create a web pattern. Wipe the toothpick clean between each line.
  9. Sprinkle chopped chives or green onions over the top, and add crumbled blue cheese if using. Serve warm with tortilla chips, celery sticks, or baguette slices.

Notes

Don’t skip the rest time before piping the sour cream web, or it will melt. For best results, shred chicken while warm. Room temperature ingredients blend more evenly. The dip can be assembled ahead (without the web) and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking.
