A fun and delicious Frankenstein-themed guacamole dip, perfect for Halloween parties or a cozy night in. Made with creamy avocados, Greek yogurt, and topped with a veggie monster face, this dip is a crowd-pleaser that’s quick and easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup frozen peas, thawed
  • 2 black olives, sliced
  • 1 small carrot, cut into thin strips
  • 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced
  • Blue corn tortilla chips, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the avocados (2 minutes). Cut the avocados in half lengthwise. Remove the pit by gently tapping it with your knife and twisting. Scoop the flesh into your mixing bowl using a spoon.
  2. Mash to your preference (2 minutes). Use a fork to mash the avocados. I like mine with some chunks — not completely smooth. About 15-20 mashes should do it. You want some texture left.
  3. Add the creamy base (1 minute). Add the Greek yogurt, lime juice, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Stir until everything is combined. The yogurt makes it extra creamy and helps it last longer without browning.
  4. Mix in the aromatics (2 minutes). Fold in the chopped red onion, minced jalapeño, and fresh cilantro. Stir gently until evenly distributed. Taste and adjust salt or lime juice as needed.
  5. Chill the guacamole (10 minutes). Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the guacamole to prevent browning. Refrigerate for at least 10 minutes. This helps the flavors meld together.
  6. Prepare the decorations (5 minutes). While the guacamole chills, prep your Frankenstein face ingredients. Slice the olives into rounds for eyes. Cut the carrot into thin strips for the bolts. Slice the cucumber into thin rounds. Thaw the frozen peas in a small bowl of warm water for 2 minutes, then drain.
  7. Assemble the monster (5 minutes). Transfer the chilled guacamole to a serving bowl or plate. Smooth the top with a spatula. Now comes the fun part — arrange the face. Place two olive slices for eyes. Use cucumber slices to create a scar across the forehead. Add carrot strips on the sides of the head for the bolts. Press the peas randomly across the face for warts. Don’t overthink it — Frankenstein is supposed to look a little messy.
  8. Serve immediately. Arrange blue corn tortilla chips around the dip. The dark chips make the green guacamole pop. Serve within 30 minutes for the best color and texture.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature avocados. Press plastic wrap directly onto the guacamole surface to prevent browning. The guacamole base can be made up to 24 hours in advance; add decorations just before serving. If making dairy-free, substitute Greek yogurt with dairy-free yogurt or omit.
