This cozy maple bourbon glazed turkey breast is tender, juicy, and topped with a sticky, caramelized glaze. It’s the perfect easy dinner for a cozy evening or a small Thanksgiving gathering.

Ingredients

  • Boneless, skin-on turkey breast (2 to 3 pounds)
  • Pure maple syrup (½ cup)
  • Bourbon (3 tablespoons)
  • Dijon mustard (2 tablespoons)
  • Unsalted butter (3 tablespoons, melted)
  • Brown sugar (2 tablespoons, packed)
  • Apple cider vinegar (1 tablespoon)
  • Garlic powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Salt (1 teaspoon)
  • Black pepper (½ teaspoon, freshly ground)
  • Fresh thyme (4 to 5 sprigs, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Position the rack in the center of the oven. While it’s heating, take your turkey breast out of the fridge and let it sit on the counter for about 20 minutes.
  2. Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the maple syrup, bourbon, Dijon mustard, melted butter, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and garlic powder. Whisk until smooth and bring to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Place the turkey breast skin-side up in your roasting pan or baking dish. Tuck the fresh thyme sprigs around the turkey if using. Pour about ¼ cup of water into the bottom of the pan.
  5. Roast the turkey for 30 minutes.
  6. After 30 minutes, remove the pan from the oven. Brush or spoon about half of the glaze over the turkey breast, making sure to cover the skin evenly. Return the turkey to the oven.
  7. Continue roasting, glazing every 15 minutes. You should get about 3 to 4 applications total. If the skin starts to get too dark, tent the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
  8. After about 60 to 75 minutes total roasting time, start checking the internal temperature. Insert your instant-read thermometer into the thickest part of the breast, avoiding the bone if there is one. You’re looking for 165°F (74°C).
  9. Once it hits 165°F, remove it from the oven and transfer it to a cutting board. Let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes.
  10. After resting, slice the turkey against the grain into ½-inch thick pieces. Drizzle any remaining pan juices over the top.

Notes

For the juiciest results, pull the turkey at 158°F to 160°F and let carryover cooking bring it to 165°F. If the glaze becomes too thick, whisk in a tablespoon of water. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
