These adorable mummy-shaped pigs in a blanket are wrapped in flaky crescent dough and served with a tangy mustard dip. Perfect for Halloween parties or any fall gathering, they’re quick, easy, and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 12 small cocktail sausages or hot dogs (such as Lit’l Smokies)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Mustard seeds or black sesame seeds, for the eyes
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon whole-grain mustard
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean cutting board. If using perforated sheets, pinch the diagonal seams together to form one solid rectangle. Cut the dough lengthwise into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.
  3. Take one cocktail sausage and place it at one end of a dough strip. Wrap the strip around the sausage, overlapping slightly, leaving a small gap near the top for the face. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining sausages and dough strips.
  4. Brush each mummy with the beaten egg wash.
  5. Place two mustard seeds or black sesame seeds on the exposed part of each sausage to create eyes, pressing gently to adhere.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffed up.
  7. While the mummies bake, prepare the dip: In a small bowl, combine sour cream, Dijon mustard, whole-grain mustard, honey, and garlic powder (if using). Stir until smooth.
  8. Let the mummies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a serving platter. Serve warm with the mustard dip.

Notes

For best results, keep the dough cold. If it becomes sticky, refrigerate for 5 minutes. To prevent unrolling, place mummies seam-side down. The dip can be made up to 3 days ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
