A quick and easy Halloween punch with a deep purple color from grape juice and blueberries, perfect for parties. This crowd-pleasing drink comes together in under 10 minutes and can be served with dry ice for a spooky witch’s brew effect.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups purple grape juice (preferably Welch’s, not from concentrate)
  • 2 cups lemonade (store-bought or homemade, not too tart)
  • 2 cups ginger ale (real ginger ale, not lemon-lime soda)
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup ice cubes (or frozen lemonade cubes for extra flavor)
  • Dry ice (optional, for witch’s brew effect)
  • 1–2 cups additional frozen fruit (frozen raspberries or blackberries, optional)
  • Gummy worms or plastic spider rings (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Chill your ingredients: Put the grape juice, lemonade, and ginger ale in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  2. Prepare your serving vessel: Wash and dry your punch bowl or pitcher. If using a plastic cauldron, ensure it’s completely clean.
  3. Add the frozen blueberries: Pour the frozen blueberries into the bottom of your serving vessel.
  4. Pour in the grape juice: Add the 4 cups of chilled purple grape juice. Stir gently to start mixing with the blueberries.
  5. Add the lemonade: Pour in the 2 cups of lemonade. Stir again. The punch should be a bright, vibrant purple.
  6. Add the ginger ale: Pour the ginger ale in last. Stir gently with a gentle swirl to keep carbonation.
  7. Add the ice cubes: Drop in the ice cubes. The punch should be very cold.
  8. Add optional garnishes: Drop in gummy worms or plastic spiders if using. Add frozen raspberries for extra effect.
  9. Prepare the dry ice effect (carefully): Put on gloves or use tongs to handle dry ice. Break into small chunks (golf ball size) and place in a separate small bowl that fits inside your punch bowl. Pour a little warm water over the dry ice to activate the smoking effect.
  10. Serve immediately: Place the punch bowl on your party table with a ladle and cups. Refresh dry ice effect every 15-20 minutes by adding more warm water.

Notes

For best results, use refrigerator-cold ingredients to prevent ice from melting and watering down the punch. Don’t over-stir the ginger ale to preserve carbonation. Dry ice safety: never touch with bare skin, never put directly into punch where someone might swallow it, and never seal in an airtight container. For a less sweet version, swap lemonade for sparkling water with fresh lemon juice. For an adult version, add 1-2 cups of vodka, white rum, or gin. Leftovers can be refrigerated for 2-3 days (carbonation will fade). The punch can be frozen in ice cube trays for future use.
