These adorable mummy hot dogs are wrapped in buttery crescent dough and baked until golden. They’re the perfect quick and easy Halloween snack that both kids and adults will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard-size hot dogs (preferably all-beef)
  • 1 can (8 oz) crescent dough (Pillsbury Original Crescents recommended)
  • Yellow mustard (for the eyes)
  • 1 large egg (for the egg wash)
  • Optional: Everything Bagel Seasoning or Poppy Seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Open the can of crescent dough and separate along the perforations into 8 triangles. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 thin strips to get 24 strips total. Place strips on a cutting board and refrigerate for 5 minutes.
  3. Take one hot dog and place it at the end of one dough strip. Wrap the strip around the hot dog, angling slightly as you go up. Overlap strips a little but leave a small gap at the top (about 1 inch) for the face. Pinch the end to seal. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and strips (3 strips per hot dog).
  4. Place wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between each. Dip a toothpick or knife tip into yellow mustard and dab two small dots on the exposed hot dog area for eyes.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon of water until smooth. Gently brush the egg wash over the exposed dough strips, being careful to avoid the mustard eyes.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is puffed and deep golden brown and hot dogs are heated through.
  7. Let cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes, then transfer to a serving platter. Serve warm with extra mustard, ketchup, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. If dough becomes sticky, refrigerate for 5-10 minutes. Don’t overlap dough strips too heavily to avoid undercooked spots. Use a tiny amount of mustard for eyes to prevent spreading. For best results, reheat leftovers in the oven or air fryer at 350°F for 5-7 minutes.
