This quick spiked apple cider sangria comes together in just 10 minutes with simple ingredients like white wine, apple cider, and fresh fruit. It’s the perfect fall cocktail that converts skeptics and makes any evening feel special.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio recommended)
  • 2 cups (480 ml) apple cider (not apple juice)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) apple brandy or Calvados (optional)
  • 1 large apple (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala), thinly sliced
  • 1 large orange, sliced into thin rounds and quartered
  • 2–3 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • Ice for serving
  • Optional garnish: fresh rosemary sprigs, star anise, or additional apple slices

Instructions

  1. Wash the apple and orange thoroughly. Slice the apple into thin rounds, about 1/4 inch thick, leaving the skin on. Cut the orange into thin rounds, then quarter each round. Remove any seeds.
  2. Pour the entire bottle of white wine into a large pitcher. Add the apple cider and apple brandy (if using). Stir gently to combine.
  3. Add the sliced apple, orange quarters, and cinnamon sticks to the pitcher. Stir gently again.
  4. Taste the sangria. If it’s too tart, stir in 1-2 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey. Skip if the cider is already sweet.
  5. For best flavor, let the sangria chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. It can also be served immediately over ice.
  6. Fill glasses with ice. Pour the sangria over the ice, making sure to include some fruit in each glass. Garnish with a fresh cinnamon stick or rosemary sprig if desired.
  7. Store any leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Stir before serving again.

Notes

Don’t use expensive wine—a $10-12 Sauvignon Blanc works perfectly. Slice fruit thin for better flavor infusion. Taste your cider before adding extra sweetener as sweetness varies by brand. For best flavor, let sangria sit in fridge for 2-4 hours. Stir before each pour as fruit sinks to the bottom. For parties, make the base ahead and add fruit 30 minutes before serving.
